As a photographer in a world filled with “oh I know a photographer”, or “oh I’m a photographer too”, how do we stand out from the rest? Well we all know that it’s ‘who you know’ not ‘what you know’ , but remember, there are two things we leave behind when we meet and network with new people and potential clients:
1. We leave behind our impression, usually our first one, and
2. We leave them our business card.
The first point is totally up to you so I’m not going to tell you how to handle yourself, but when it comes to business cards, the guys over at FStoppers have a neat little article about how to go about creating your own, the DIY way.
As creatives we photographers have very little reason to be packing standard humdrum business cards (let’s leave those for the door to door salesmen and insurance agents). Photographer/Blogger Katie Sokoler obviously agrees with me as she recently posted on how she made her home made cards.
