The special edition’s technical specifications are the same as those of the standard model Leica D-Lux 5. Among these are a fast zoom lens which permits the focal length range from 24 to 90 mm (35 mm equivalent focal length), thus covering a wide variety of photographic applications. The 1/1.63″ CCD image sensor is unusually large for a compact camera and is perfectly attuned to the lens, together with the electronics and software producing images with outstandingly natural colour rendition, superb sharpness and high brilliance. The camera monitor with its wide viewing angle and 460,000 pixel resolution displays extremely high quality images both before and after taking a photograph. Clearly laid-out functions and straightforward operation ensure intuitive handling of the camera in all photographic situations, from creative image design to spontaneous spur-of-the-moment shots, or using the 720 pixel HD video function.
